The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) California-Nevada-Hawaii (CNH) District met for its 73rd regular convention May 15–17 in Sacramento, Calif. The convention theme, “Fruitful Branches, Pruned for Growth,” was drawn from John 15:1–3.
CNH District President Rev. Michael Lange, Livermore, Calif., was elected to a third term on the first ballot. The Rev. Mitchell Gowen, Aiea, Hawaii, was re-elected first vice-president. All elected officers were installed during the convention.
The delegates also passed resolutions to:
- Create a stronger process for the participation and inclusion of the thoughts and opinions of commissioned ministers at future CNH conventions; and
- Form a stronger framework for connection and collaboration between regional vice-presidents, circuit visitors and congregations of the CNH District.
The Rev. Anthony Oliphant is pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Elmhurst, Ill.
